“The mood and temper of the public in regard to the treatment of crime and criminals is one of the most unfailing tests of the civilization of any country”
Sir Winston Churchill
The Bridge of Hope Foundation
A Christian based, Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) organisation whose principal purpose is to provide money, property and support to those Eligible Charities and Ministries (the agencies) who conduct rehabilitation programs for inmates, former inmates and their families (the clients) and who bring hope where there is none
The Social Needs - serviced by the agencies
- Rehabilitation – without this, nothing changes and society is no safer
- Recidivism – so often caused by social circumstance and hopelessness
- Homelessness – the end result can be drugs and even death
- Education – can build self-esteem, dignity and financial responsibility
- Employment – the means for building a vision and hence, a future
- Community Acceptance – with church, family and the community
Background
The monetary and psychological costs to the community as a result of crime, incarceration are extreme.
- In 2008 some of the agencies providing services to clients were brought together by The Bridge of Hope Foundation within a coordinated agency forum.
- Regular agency forum meetings are now held under the auspices of The Bridge of Hope Foundation.
- The agencies understand the nature and scope of the ‘throughcare’ issues encountered by clients and are familiar with the challenges and requirements to develop a sound social order foundation.
- The agencies have agreed to align and so enhance the implementation of their services with common purpose to assist clients’ positive progression to become worthwhile members of the community.
